Coach Joseph Potts is a former collegiate and professional football player who is now the premier Sports Performance Coach in the Kansas City area. In addition to his role within the TopSpeed organization he currently operates as the Director of Performance for the Kansas City Current and the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the Fort Scott Community College Baseball program. Utiliizing his methods the 2022 FSCC Greyhounds squad led the nation in home runs.

 

He has trained notable athletes such as Super Bowl champions Harrison Butker, Tyreek Hill and De'Vante Bausby, NBA veteran Nick Collison, European Professional Basketball MVP Kristina Stantiago, MLB 1st round draft picks Riley Pint and Alex Lange.

 

Coach Potts' resume includes several years as a Strength & Conditioning Coach with the Kansas City Royals where he was the organization's Speed Development Specialist where, with his base-running methods in place the Royals' minor league system led baseball in total stolen bases in 2008 & 2009. The players from those teams have since helped the MLB team rank among the Top 10 in stolen bases consistently from 2010-2015.

 

Since switching to Coach Potts' power-based approach Fort Scott CC baseball has seen a 17% increase in home runs hit by the team, an 11% increase in extra base hits, and a 15% decrease in pitching staff ERA compared to the years prior.

Coach Potts is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Corrective Exercise Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a certified Nike SPARQ Trainer. He holds a degree in exercise science from the University of Kansas where he played for the KU Football team. He combines this knowledge of performance training and sports nutrition to help his clients achieve their full potential while maximizing sports performance and preventing injury.

Individuals and teams who train under the guidance of Coach Potts receive the very best instruction available. In addition to sports performance training, nutrition and supplement advice he also frequently stays in contact with clients outside of the gym to help them however he can. Coach Potts spends countless hours each week learning about the most advanced training techniques and the science behind those techniques. This personal dedication allows TopSpeed clients to often exceed the goals they set for themselves at the start of their training.
